Enjoy Modern Japanese-French Fare at Yugen
For modern, Japanese cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere, visit newly opened Yugen on West Randolph Street in Chicago’s West Side. Executive Chef Mari Matsumura marries her Japanese heritage with classic French training for an elevated menu of sumptuous dishes.
Choose from a full menu with items like beef or scallop tartare or chicken liver mousse, along with daily features Tuesday through Saturday. Or, step up to the tasting menu of canapés, including sashimi, inventive seafood preparations, and other balanced small plates. The tasting menu is truly an experience, and though pricey at $205 per person, features flavor combination and high-end ingredients that you simply can’t get anywhere else. The menus at Yugen change seasonally, so to enjoy the winter offering, be sure to make your reservation soon. Private dining and event space is also available.
Yugen is closed Sunday and Mondays, and accepts dinner reservations from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. the rest of the week.
